Our Story

What began as a small backyard shed in 2008 has grown into one of Melbourne's most respected custom furniture workshops. Our founder, a fourth-generation woodworker, established bright-geyser with a simple mission: to create furniture that families would pass down through generations.

Today, our team of twelve skilled craftspeople works from a purpose-built facility in Collingwood. We combine traditional hand-tool techniques with modern precision machinery to produce pieces that honour both heritage methods and contemporary design principles.

Every project that leaves our workshop carries our commitment to quality. We select each board personally, considering how the grain will look in your finished piece. We cut joints by hand when it matters. We finish surfaces with the patience they deserve.

Our Approach to Timber

We work exclusively with sustainably harvested Australian hardwoods. Victorian Ash for its golden warmth. Tasmanian Blackwood for its chocolate depth. Spotted Gum for its striking character. Each species brings distinct qualities to the finished piece.

Our timber is kiln-dried to precise moisture content, then acclimatised in our workshop before any cutting begins. This attention to timber preparation prevents warping, cracking, and other issues that plague lesser furniture.

We maintain relationships with small-scale sawmills across Victoria and Tasmania. Knowing where our timber comes from matters to us, and it should matter to you too.
